On Good Shepherd Sunday, also Mother’s Day, motherhood reflects God’s love, guiding us to Jesus, our Good Shepherd. A mother’s sacrificial love, guidance, and protection, though imperfect, mirror God’s providence and find ultimate fulfillment in Jesus, who loves us, knows us intimately, and secures us eternally (John 10:22-30).

Security for the Insecure
Insecurity manifests as self-doubt or overconfidence, making us prone to false truths or proving our knowledge. The Colossians faced similar issues, and Apostle Paul urged them to find security in Christ alone. Jesus, as the fullness of God, offers grace and mercy, making us beloved children of God. This security frees us from false teachings and pride, supporting our souls and Christ’s mission.
The Security of Grace
No matter how much we like to think differently, we are insecure people. We are always worried about being forgotten or abandoned. This is true of all our relationships including God. We worry that God will not show up to help us and save us in our times of need. Joshua 10 tells us of a grace filled God who helps and saves even the most unworthy sinners just like us.
